Smart computing lab is working on different Artificial Intelligence based projects. One of the important projects our lab is dealing with is AI in medical imaging. Under the umbrella of this big project, we tackle crucial challenges in healthcare using cutting edge AI technology. By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, we aim to provide tangible solutions for cancer diagnosis. Currently, we are focusing on some important cancers namely gastric, colon, liver, skin, and breast. We are collaborating with five leading hospitals in South Korea enabling us to access a vast and diverse dataset of whole slide images. This multi-center approach ensures the generalizability of our AI models. We are developing advanced AI algorithms based on foundation models, self-supervised learning, weakly supervised learning and vision transformers. These approaches allow our models to learn meaningful representations from unlabeled data, or less-specific labels and enable us to create highly accurate and robust models for each cancer type.
We aim to empower the healthcare sector by developing such kinds of diagnostic tools and applications which assist pathologists and physicians in diagnosing cancer. These AI based tools will expedite the diagnostic process, improve treatment success rate, reduce diagnostic error and help reduce the mortality rate of patients.
This is a three years real time digital pathology project.
