SCLab Research Team Explores Digital Pathology Advancements with JLK, Seoul

In 2023, the SCLab research team from Inje University visited JLK in Seoul to assess the progress of their Digital Pathology project, focusing on cancer analysis. The discussions centered on the integration of AI-driven solutions to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cancer diagnostics. The meeting facilitated knowledge exchange on addressing challenges such as data processing and scalability, while also exploring opportunities for developing AI solutions tailored to specific cancer types, including gastric and colon cancer. This collaboration aims to bring cutting-edge technologies into clinical workflows to improve patient outcomes.
Parallelly, SCLab strengthened its research ties with the Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan. Beginning with an exchange of emails in June 2023, the collaboration was formalized with a Zoom meeting on June 27th. Led by Professor Hee-Cheol Kim from SCLab and Professor Shun Shiramatsu from the White Pine Lab (WP Lab) at Nagoya, the meeting brought together researchers and students from both institutions. Discussions highlighted advancements in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its applications in healthcare, including AI-based systems for diagnosing gastric, liver, and colon cancer. This partnership combines SCLab's expertise in medical image processing and NLP with WP Lab's focus on civic tech and knowledge graph systems, fostering a shared vision for advancing AI-driven healthcare solutions.
